At 1.300 meters above the sea level, it is refined residential area which extends to the foot of the ski slopes, completely covered in snow throughout the entire season, due to heavy snowfalls integrated by hi - tech, programmed artificial snow equipment.
There are over 20 km of slopes suitable for both beginners and experts, provided with ski tows and double or single chair lifts.

If your favourite sport is canoeing, sailing, windsurf, or scuba diving, Barcis is the place for you. A delightful town nestling in the green countryside, it gives its name to a beautiful lake. The lake appears as you leave the Valcellina gorge and its wonderful emerald green colour immediately catches the attention. Only the sails of the sailing boats bobbing here and there tell us that the green surface is really water.
Every year the European motor boat championships are held at Barcis, but boats are a familiar sight on the lake all year round. Sailing, windsurf, fishing are practised here, as well as canoeing, for which the course of the river Cellina is ideal, tumbling as it does through mountain gorges. Claut is another of the towns in the area with torrents for canoeing.

However, if you, like Pantani, prefer pedalling uphill, choose the climb to Piancavallo, and reward yourself by freewheeling down towards Barcis.
The Pian del Cansiglio, Friuli Dolomites Natural Park, Carnia Prealpi are our mountains. They are crossed by paths featuring different grades of difficulty and offer long walks among the trees to dairy cowsheds and hospitable huts, as well as expert climbing on steep mountain faces.
